Due to financial restrictions the 9th Poulenc International Competition can not take place on the defined schedule.
Our will to give a better standing to the competition in both France and abroad lead the Organization Board to postpone it in November 2016 with the same program.

We apologize for this necessary modification.

The Francis Poulenc International Piano Competition created by Jacques LAGARDE, professor at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, in 1997 gives young virtuosos the opportunity of highlighting all their talent valuated by an international Jury composed of famous pianists. They will reward high level artists.

Maria Tipo, Jean-Michel Damase, Georges Prêtre, Laurent Petitgirard, Jean-Claude Pennetier and many others like Gabriel Tacchino - the Jury’s President of the 8th Competition - have all backed this competition. It is placed under the high patronage of French President François HOLLANDE.

Since its creation, the Competition has always taken place in Limousin, a land loved by Francis Poulenc in which he drew his main inspiration springs. Its 9th edition will be in Paris between 24th and 28th November 2015 in the "Maison de la Culture du Japon" and Barbizon will welcome the concerto final. This is the result of both the international notoriety of the Competition and Japaners’ interest in Francis Poulenc’s music. Barbizon is the place to welcome the artists for the concerto final, knowing its attraction to arts, its way of harboring artists and its will to discover new talents in fields.
